Alex Bailey
PHYSIOTHERAPIST
MPT, BKin (HONS)
Alex is a physiotherapist who moved to Nanaimo from England in 2010 and has grown up in the Harbour City. He is a 2025 graduate of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Western Ontario’s Master of Physical Therapy program. After graduating from Dover Bay Secondary in 2018, Alex worked at a local shipyard in between semesters at VIU, alongside other labour jobs. This, combined with a history of playing rugby and junior football, gave Alex insight into injury management within a broad range of environments.
After receiving physiotherapy care following several injuries from junior football and the weight room, Alex was inspired to pursue a career in physiotherapy, in which he is passionate about providing empathetic, logical, and evidence-informed care.
Alex believes in taking a holistic approach to the care of his clients. His UWO education hammered home the importance of all aspects of a client’s complex life – not just the time they spend in the clinic. With this background in mind, Alex draws upon clinical reasoning skills, manual therapy techniques, knowledge of appropriate exercise prescription, and lifestyle modification to improve clients’ function day-to-day. His professional and educational experience has encompassed care ranging from competitive athletes to geriatrics in the hospital setting, and he’s enjoyed all of it.
